Sudan cotton project awarded Best Global Poverty Reduction Practice

The Comprehensive Poverty Reduction Practice of Sudan Cotton Industry executed by CSI, Subsidiary of SDHS was recently included in the second global solicitation of best poverty reduction practices on the Global Poverty Reduction & Inclusive Growth (GPIG) Portal.

SDHS has been playing an active role in promoting the South-South Cooperation and international poverty reduction through getting itself involved in the agriculture and infrastructure development in African countries. The China-Sudan Agricultural Cooperation Development Zone implemented by SDHS has created over 40,000 jobs for the local people and benefits more than 3500 peasant households. The project was listed as Ten Significant Historical Cooperation Events on 60th Anniversary for China-Sudan Diplomatic Relations and also recognized by Ministry of Agriculture of China as China Overseas Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Zones as well as Shandong Provincial Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.

The Global Solicitation of Best Poverty Reduction Practices was jointly launched by the China Internet Information Center (CIIC), International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), World Bank, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), World Food Programme (WFP), and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
