SDHS wins bid for Kagera Region Agricultural Irrigation Project in Tanzania

SDHS|Updated: July 15, 2025

Recently, Shandong Hi-Speed Group Road & Bridge International Engineering, a subsidiary of Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SDHS), along with Shandong Water Conservancy Group, secured the contract for the Agricultural Irrigation Project in the Kagera region of Tanzania. This project marks SDHS's the first water conservancy and irrigation project in Tanzania, highlighting its growing presence in Africa's infrastructure and signifying a major step forward in its ongoing efforts to strengthen its position in the Tanzanian market.

Situated in the Kagera region, a vital agricultural area in northwestern Tanzania, the 1,095-day project involves the procurement and installation of irrigation and drainage systems, water control hubs, water transmission pipelines, and supporting materials, as well as power supply, fencing, auxiliary facilities, water management during construction, environmental protection, and laboratory setup.

The project aims to optimize water resource distribution, replacing the area's rain-dependent, inefficient traditional irrigation with a stable, automated system. Once completed, it will enhance regional food security, and promote the sustainable development of Tanzania's agricultural sector, contributing SDHS strength to local socio-economic progress.
