Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SDHS) has secured two major projects in Malaysia, marking a significant expansion into the Southeast Asian market. The deals include a general contract for a smart warehousing initiative and a framework agreement for the Nilai Smart City project.
The smart warehousing project, valued at 10.2 billion yuan ($1.4 billion), involves the construction of customized facilities in states like Selangor and Johor. With a total capacity of 2 million pallet positions, the project aims to improve Malaysia's national logistics network while supporting the export of Shandong-manufactured smart equipment and technology.
SDHS also serves as the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor for the Nilai Smart City project, which involves a projected investment of 50.1 billion yuan ($7 billion) over the next decade. The project includes an electric vehicle manufacturing hub with an annual capacity of 100,000 units, a medical city, and commercial centers. Once completed, it is expected to create over 50,000 jobs for the local community.
These deals reflect the group's strong global performance. This year, SDHS has signed new overseas contracts worth about 27 billion yuan ($3.73 billion), a 360 percent increase year-on-year. The group currently ranks 51st on the ENR's list of the top 250 global international contractors.
In the future, SDHS plans to speed up the development of key overseas projects and further strengthen its global brand influence to support high-level international cooperation.
