Shandong Hi-Speed Group operates 202 expressway service and parking areas, including 170 within the province. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the group invested 6.4 billion yuan ($905 million) in building or upgrading 139 service areas, greatly enhancing facilities and services.
The group promotes branded, standardized, distinctive and intelligent service area development. It built China's first self-made carbon-neutral expressway service area and the nation's first hydrogen-refueling station within a service area, and published China's first white paper on zero-carbon service areas.
It established the country's first "open economy belt" across service areas and created the province-wide "Shandong Handicraft" sales platform, offering an innovative solution for integrating transportation and cultural tourism. The group also pioneered the "Drivers' Home" model — now a national benchmark — providing high-quality rest and support facilities for truck drivers and long-distance travelers.
