Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic inspected the Danube Corridor Expressway project, constructed by Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SDHS), on Dec 29. Accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming, Vucic visited the site to express his appreciation to the Chinese and Serbian employees.
During the visit, Vucic was briefed on the project's progress, quality control, and safety measures. He praised the team's professionalism and resilience in overcoming challenges like complex geological conditions.
Vucic emphasized that the Danube Corridor is a crucial infrastructure project for eastern Serbia. He pledged the government's support to ensure the expressway is open to traffic by the end of 2026, expressing gratitude for China's role in Serbia's development.
Ambassador Li Ming noted that the project is a great example of the BRI cooperation between the two nations. Once completed, it will serve as a vital transport artery connecting eastern and northern Serbia, boosting regional economic development.
The group remains committed to meeting rigorous construction standards. It aims to establish a benchmark project for China-Serbia cooperation, ensuring on-schedule delivery while contributing to the region's infrastructure improvement and socio-economic growth.
