Recently, the 2025 Annual Conference of the Shandong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries took place at office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee.
Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SDHS)'s submission was honored as one of the "Top 10 Outstanding Cases of Non-Governmental Foreign Exchanges in 2025", setting an example for Shandong enterprises in leveraging non-governmental exchanges for high-level opening-up.
As a trailblazer for Shandong enterprises expanding globally, the group has built mutual benefit and people-to-people connections along the countries involved in Belt and Road Initiative through project collaborations. The award-winning case focused on the Tara River Bridge maintenance project in Montenegro, marking over 40 years of China-Montenegro friendship.
The Tara River Bridge, a national symbol in Montenegro, had deteriorated over time. In 2024, the group was awarded the maintenance contract, with a commitment to "repairing while preserving the original style", maintaining its historic character and addressing potential hazards. The project boosted local industrial income and employment through localized procurement and management, turning the bridge into a symbol of China-Montenegro friendship.
In the future, the group intends to deepen international exchanges, promote Shandong's culture, technologies, and standards to go global, and contribute SDHS strength to making Shandong a hub for high-level opening-up.
